Duke Realty’s Washington D.C. Team’s Second Quarter Transactions Top 328,000 Square Feet

Activity includes leases by new tenants, and renewals and extensions by existing tenants

Washington, D.C. – July 18, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — In the second quarter of 2011, Duke Realty Corporation’s (Duke Realty) Washington, D.C. leasing team closed transactions totaling 328,786 square feet, including new leases and renewals and extensions of existing leases.

“We are pleased with the leasing activity we had in the second quarter and look forward to this momentum continuing in the second half of the year,” said Peter Scholz, Senior Vice President of Duke Realty’s Washington, D.C. Operations. “The quality and location of our properties, along with our solid reputation, have been important factors influencing tenants’ leasing decisions.”

Duke Realty was represented by the team of Battista Orcino, Vice President of Leasing, and Chris Darling and Matt Bremner, Leasing Representatives, in the following transactions:

  • Systems Planning & Analysis, a company that provides objective and high-caliber work in national defense and homeland security planning, extended the term of its 149,243-square foot lease for office space in 2001 N. Beauregard.
  • The Institute for Defense Analyses, a non-profit corporation that provides objective analyses of national security issues, renewed its 50,940-square foot office lease in 4900 Seminary Road. David Lipson with Studley, Inc. represented the Institute for Defense Analyses in the transaction.
  • In three separate transactions, Rockwell Collins, LLC, a provider of communication and aviation electronic solutions for both government and commercial applications, renewed its space in three Duke Realty industrial properties. In 22626 Sally Ride Drive, Rockwell renewed its lease for 43,120 square feet, while at 22620 and 22635 Davis Drive, Rockwell will continue to lease 21,600 and 30,000 square feet, respectively.
  • Solutex, Inc., a distributor of management and janitorial supplies, signed a new lease for 15,256 square feet of space in 22635 Davis Drive, a Duke Realty industrial building.
  • In another new lease, TASC, Inc., a company focused on concept and technology development, leased 10,482 square feet of office space in 15002 Northridge Drive. Brad Davis with CB Richard Ellis represented TASC in the transaction.
  • Three companies renewed their space in Duke Realty office properties. IKON Office Solutions, a provider of document management systems and services, continued to lease 4,431 square feet of office space in 4900 Seminary Road. Also in 4900 Seminary Road, CAFÉ 4900, a food service provider for Mark Center tenants, renewed its lease of 2,334 square feet. School photography firm Lifetouch National School Studios renewed its lease of 1,380 square feet in 109 Carpenter Drive.
