Corporate relocations, new facility openings underscore economic strength

ARLINGTON, VA, November 15, 2007 – Several top employers are moving to Arlington in the next three months, bringing 4,000 new jobs to the County. Under the leadership and coordination of Arlington Economic Development (AED), private-sector companies BNA and DeticaDFI, as well as publicly traded Corporate Executive Board (Nasdaq: EXBD) will soon call Arlington home. Collectively, the relocations represent three of Arlington’s largest employers and more than 1,000,000 square feet of Class A office space.

In concert with the relocations, the fourth quarter of 2007 also marks the opening of the Base Realignment and Closure Commission (BRAC) Transition Center in Crystal City – a new Arlington job growth center – and the Hotel Palomar Arlington in Rosslyn – the County’s first boutique hotel.

“While Arlington’s economic improvement effort has been heavily involved in development issues recently, we have maintained our objective to fill vacant office spaces,” said Terry Holzheimer, director of AED. “The County’s development team is proud of the significant economic growth that will be happening over the course of the next few months, and we welcome these influential business players to Arlington.”
