Hampton Seeking Citizens To Serve As Members Of The Hampton Federal Area Development Authority

Hampton, VA - August 28, 2008 - (RealEstateRama) —The Hampton City Council is seeking seven (7) Hampton residents to serve on the Hampton Federal Area Development Authority (Hampton FADA).

The Hampton FADA was created in 2007 to enable more efficient cooperation with the federal government and to increase the value of federal installations in the City of Hampton by promoting the development of federal employee housing, office buildings and other infrastructure through increased coordination between military, private industry, and academic research institutions creating innovative opportunities that foster economic growth focused on tangible benefits for our citizens. The goals of the Hampton FADA are to increase employment opportunities, strengthen the economic base and increase tax revenues.

Duties and responsibilities of the Hampton FADA include:

Defining a long range “over the horizon” strategy and campaign plan
Lobbying for federal assets
Establishing relationships with key decision makers in private industry, academia and the Federal Agencies
Developing proposals to foster and stimulate economic growth in the area of operation
Providing opportunities for “Federal Communities” to learn about specific things by which they can take action to preserve and grow their respective installation(s)

Desirable qualifications include:

Ability to work within a group of stakeholders on complex issues
Ability to “think outside the box” and translate ideas to the FADA
Assertive and proactive
Community leadership
Background in Federal activities
Understands the Federal “cultures”
Understanding of the real estate market and its impact on land use decisions
Ability to study and evaluate the complex financial, environment and regulatory issues associated with federal facilities
Close contacts with private industry & academia leadership
Vested interest in building a strong relationship with the Federal Agencies
