RICHMOND - July 16, 2012 - (RealEstateRama) -- Governor Bob McDonnell ceremonially signed four pieces of legislation to protect the property rights of Virginia citizens. HB5 (R. Bell) and its companion SB240 (Obenshain) provide for a referendum for a constitutional amendment to protect private property rights on the Nov. 6, 2012 ballot. HB1035 (Joannou) and SB437 (Obenshain) provide clear definitions for the terms "lost profits" and "lost access" and how to determine the amount of just compensation.

Virginia announces new public-private partnership to reduce homelessness for children and their families
December 6, 2011 - (RealEstateRama) -- A State and federal initiative will help communities improve the availability of affordable housing for children and their families experiencing homelessness by increasing the provision of rapid re-housing. Rapid re-housing is a proven solution to homelessness for children and their families. It permanently ends homelessness and is often more cost-efficient than current programs.

The new initiative, sponsored by the Freddie Mac Foundation, was announced in conjunction with the Governor’s Housing Conference.

September 26, 2011 - (RealEstateRama) -- The City of Norfolk Office to End Homelessness is holding its 11th Annual Project Homeless Connect Wednesday, September 14, 2001 at Scope Arena. The event brings together local homeless service agencies and organizations to provide “one-stop” access to much-needed resources for more than 600 expected participants. The event features medical providers, housing agencies, employment agencies, and benefit specialists. Participants receive donated goods as well as services.
