Homeless Shelters Receive Grants
Along with the department of Human Services, The Dwelling Place, For KIDS, Inc., the YWCA, and Salvation Army/ Norfolk Command have been awarded a total of $324,000 in federal and state grants, which will be used to support the services of the Norfolk’s homeless population. They will receive a portion of the funding administered though the Virginia Department of Housing and Community development for transitional shelter repair and improvements; emergency shelter operation, administration and supportive services; childcare costs; and salary support for coordinators of services for homeless children in shelter facilities.
