Humane Society to sell estate involved in lengthy dispute
After more than two years of litigation, the Bedford Humane Society has decided to sell the estate of a Forest man whose will had been disputed in court.
The nonprofit organization received ownership of the estate of Vernon Lybolt Jr., which has been valued at $600,000, following a ruling by the Virginia Supreme Court in February.
The humane society’s board of directors decided in the past week to sell the estate and use the proceeds to purchase a new facility.
The humane society also plans to auction contents within the estate, such as furniture, sometime in the next two months.
