Alexandria’s First Half Real Estate Tax Due Wednesday, June 15

June 8, 2011 - (RealEstateRama) -- The City of Alexandria reminds property owners that the first half 2011 Real Estate Tax and Refuse Fee payments are on due on Wednesday, June 15. To avoid a late payment penalty and interest, payment must be received by the City or postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service no later than June 15.

The penalty date will not be extended for bills where assessment questions have been filed with the Board of Equalization. Additional interest at the rate of 10% per annum will be assessed

Since that time, more than 12,000 citizens have registered and received their personal property tax bills through e-mail.

Guidelines established for disabled veterans real property tax relief program

March 17, 2011 - (RealEstateRama) -- Norfolk Commissioner of Revenue Sharon McDonald has begun notifying veterans and veterans groups that guidelines have been established that disabled veterans will have to follow to apply for property tax relief on their homes. McDonald’s office will administer the program.
