Loudoun County Family Services Offers Advice on Foreclosures
Staff at the Loudoun County Department of Family Services has recently completed certification training in Loss Mitigation Counseling for those people in the community who are in foreclosure or in jeopardy of foreclosure.
Antwaun Jackson, a Housing Intervention Social Worker with the department, says, “The first thing to do if you are in danger of foreclosure is to call the loss mitigation department at your mortgage company. They may be able to help you with loan modification or a repayment and forbearance plan.”
For people who are not yet behind in their payments, but think they may be in trouble in the future, a call to a foreclosure hotline at 1-888-995-HOPE may be the best option.
If neither of these options is helpful, call Antwaun Jackson at the Department of Family Services at 703-777-0353 for counseling or for other assistance.
