Norfolk Property Owners to Receive Tax Bills Soon
May 8, 2008 - Norfolk’s Commissioner of the Revenue, Sharon M. McDonald, and Norfolk City Treasurer, Thomas W. Moss, Jr., today announced that the 2008 personal property tax bills have been mailed to Norfolk property owners. Customers should begin receiving the bills in the next several days.
McDonald and Moss wish to make customers aware of several changes to the 2008 personal property tax bills:
- The new tax bill is easier to read and also saves money in printing costs.
- The tax rate on vehicles is $4.25 per $100 of assessed value. The tax rate on pleasure boats is $0.50 per $100 of assessed value.
- The Commonwealth of Virginia provides tax relief on 56% of the assessed value of qualifying vehicles.
- 2008 Personal Property tax payments are due June 5, 2008.
