October 26, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — The Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) is again ranked among the best of the nation’s more than 3,000 housing authorities, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
HUD has issued the FCRHA’s FY 2011 scores for the Section 8 Management Assessment Program (SEMAP), which found that the FCRHA is a “High Performer” in the management of its more than 3,500 federal Housing Choice Vouchers. The FCRHA received a “better than perfect” SEMAP score of 102 percent. The assessment evaluates a housing authority’s management of the Housing Choice Voucher program from a variety of perspectives, including the timeliness of participant re-certifications, housing inspections and enforcement of housing quality standards, among others. The Housing Choice Voucher program provides rental subsidies for participating low-income families to rent homes on the private market.
“We are proud of this important accomplishment and our sustained record of excellence in managing our housing programs. We are committed to maintaining this high standard,” said FCRHA Chair Elisabeth Lardner (Mount Vernon District).
The FCRHA’s Housing Choice Voucher program is managed by the staff of the Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development.
