Griffith Announces Emory & Henry to Receive $51 Million in USDA Funding for Campus...
Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) today announced that Emory & Henry College has been approved for a $46 million low-interest direct loan and a $5 million guaranteed third-party loan by U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development, allowing the school to fund campus improvement projects including the development of new apartment-style residence halls for upper class students.
EPA Awards Grant to Virginia Tech for Water Sampling in Flint
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency today announced an $80,000 grant to Virginia Tech University which will fund sampling to measure lead levels in Flint’s drinking water. Beginning this week, Virginia Tech researchers will work with residents to collect water samples from the 271 Flint residences that were first sampled in August 2015.
Governor McAuliffe Announces more than $6.9 million in Housing Trust Funds
Governor Terry McAuliffe announced today more than $6.9 million in Housing Trust Fund grants and loans for the Homeless Reduction Grant and the Competitive Loan Program. Twenty-three projects will receive grants through these two programs of the Virginia Housing Trust Fund. The Trust Fund is intended to create and preserve affordable housing and to reduce homelessness in the Commonwealth.

U.S. Sens. Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine (both D-VA) today announced that 18 Virginia localities will receive more than $1.5 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The funding will help Virginia families who receive federal housing vouchers and public housing residents reduce their dependency on welfare assistance and rental subsidies, by providing tools and resources that will assist them in gaining job skills and increasing their earned income
Governor McAuliffe Announces More Than $8.2 Million in Community Development Block Grants
Governor Terry McAuliffe today announced more than $8.2 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for 12 projects in Virginia. Since 1982, the federally-funded CDBG program has been administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), and Virginia receives approximately $17 million annually for this grant program.
