Loudoun County Seeking Proposals for Community Services Block Grant

-

Leesburg, VA – January 12, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — Loudoun County is requesting proposals for Loudoun’s Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) for Fiscal Year 2010-2011. The proposed projects should address at least one of the following priority areas:  housing and rental assistance, health care and medical assistance, emergency needs or affordable day care.  Grants awarded must benefit low-income residents of Loudoun County.

The CSBG program provides funding on an annual basis for the prevention of poverty and to promote and develop self-sufficiency.  Funds will be made available upon successful application by local public agencies, non-profit agencies, and faith-based or religious organizations in the community that are already delivering similar services or may need seed money for new projects.

Funding for fiscal year 2011 is expected to be $100,000.   The funds are from the Federal Community Services Block Grant, funds appropriated by the General Assembly of Virginia and money from Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.  Loudoun County was designated a Community Action Program in April, 2005 and is tasked with awarding CSBG funding annually.

The proposal outlines in detail what the funds are intended to cover and how to file an application.  All forms are included in the proposal request.  To request a copy of the proposal, please contact Karen Velez, Department of Family Services, at 703-771-5718 or by e-mail: karen.velez (at) loudoun (dot) gov.

Please note that the deadline for proposal submission is 4:00 p.m., Thursday, February 18, 2010. Grant awards will be announced by July 1, 2010.
