ALEXANDRIA, VA - November 20, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) -- Godwin Asifo, 55, of Woodbridge, Va., was sentenced today to 57 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for running a mortgage fraud scheme that resulted in the foreclosure of at least three homes in northern Virginia.

Washington, DC - October 8, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) -- Congressman Glenn Nye (VA-02) is asking banks and mortgage servicers to provide assistance to homeowners struggling with toxic drywall. On Thursday, Nye announced that he had introduced a Concurrent Resolution (H.Con.Res. 197) in the House of Representatives, calling on mortgage holders to allow homeowners to apply for a temporary forbearance in their mortgage payments.

NORFOLK, VA - August 17, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) -- Former attorney Kristina Marie Cardwell, age 39, of Virginia Beach, Va., was sentenced to 66 months in prison today for her participation in a mortgage fraud scheme, federal authorities announced.

RICHMOND, VA - July 28, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) -- Stacy Lynn Chamberlain, age 42, of Unionville, Virginia, was arrested today on charges mortgage fraud on a federally insured bank and wire fraud on several mortgage companies and investors therein.

ALEXANDRIA, VA - July 27, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) -- Richard A. Forde, also known as Euburn Richard Forde, age 51, formerly of Great Falls, Va., was sentenced today to 42 months in prison for his role in a mortgage fraud scheme from approximately December 2001 to January 2004.
