February 17, 2011 – (RealEstateRama) — Norfolk Redevelopment & Housing Authority’s (NRHA) Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing to review it’s annual plan for assisted-rental programs at 6:30 p.m. March 23, 2011, at Ruffner Middle School, 610 May Avenue.
The Board will meet hold a regular monthly meeting at 4 p.m. prior to the public hearing at 6:30 p.m.
The Quality Housing and Work Responsibility Act (QHWRA) of 1998 requires housing authorities to complete a five-year plan and an annual plan for its assisted-rental properties and Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program. NRHA is developing its 12th annual plan and preparing to enter the third year of its third five-year plan, beginning July 1, 2011.
The draft plan is currently available for a 45-day public review and comment period at various locations throughout Norfolk including the City of Norfolk’s Human Services Department, Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia, Union Mission and all Tenant Management Corporations and Management offices. A resident input meeting was held Nov. 13, 2010, at Ruffner Middle School.
The plans include information on NRHA’s major goals, objectives and strategies for assisted-rental housing and Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program, requirements/mandates by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and NRHA’s objectives and strategies for achieving the mission of “providing quality housing opportunities that foster sustainable mixed-income communities.”
