SENS. WARNER & KAINE ANNOUNCE $160,000 IN FUNDING TO RELIEVE VETERAN HOMELESSNESS IN HAMPTON

WASHINGTON, D.C. – (RealEstateRama) — As we head into Independence Day weekend, Sens. Mark R. Warner and Tim Kaine (both D-VA) announced today that the U.S. Departments of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Veterans Affairs (V-A) will award $166,336 to the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority (HRHA) to help homeless veterans find affordable and stable housing.

“The brave men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform deserve to know that their country will take care of them when they return home,” said both Senators. “This funding will help homeless veterans in Hampton get the assistance they need, and find a safe and affordable place to live.”

The HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program combines rental assistance voucher programs for homeless veterans administered by HUD with case management and clinical services provided by the V-A.

The awards will assist with the administrative costs incurred while providing support services for veterans at medical centers and community-based outreach clinics, and decrease the amount of time it takes for a veteran to locate and move into a housing unit. This year, 42 out of 62 applicants were selected to receive awards, including HRHA.
