Board Approves County Purchase of 144.6 Acres of Land in Leesburg

-

The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors today approved the purchase of 144.6 acres of land in Leesburg for the amount of $5.5 million.

The property, located on the east side of Sycolin Road, two miles south of the intersection with the Route 7 bypass, is contiguous to the county-owned Sycolin Road Government Support Center.

The county is buying the land to address general government capital facilities needs as planned for in the county’s adopted Capital Needs Assessment and Capital Improvement Program.

Settlement on the property is tentatively scheduled for late December. Once the purchase of the land is complete, the county will launch a public master planning process involving the Town of Leesburg, residents near the property and other interested members of the public.

More information about the county’s Capital Needs Assessment and Capital Improvement Program is available on the Loudoun County website at www.loudoun.gov/budget.
