Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day Set for Sat., May 30, 2015

The Rappahannock Regional Landfill invites Stafford and Fredericksburg residents to dispose of their household hazardous wastes - for free - on Saturday, May 30, 2015. The collection runs from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the landfill, located at 489 Eskimo Hill Road, Stafford, VA 22554.

Alexandria First Half Real Estate Tax Bills Mailed

The City of Alexandria has mailed bills for the first half 2015 real estate tax and refuse fee to all property owners and/or mortgage companies. The 2015 real estate tax rate is $1.043 per $100 of assessed value.

Arlington County Board Approves Option to Buy N. Quincy Street Property

The Arlington County Board today approved an option agreement to buy a three-parcel, six-acre site on N. Quincy Street, for $30 million, from three limited liability corporations controlled by Bill Buck and his family. The Board also approved a first payment of $1.2 million on the option. The agreement gives the County until November 20, 2017 to exercise its option to buy the property.

Arlington Cuts Real Estate Tax Late Payment Penalty

The Arlington County Board today voted to lower the late payment penalty for real estate taxes from 10 percent to 5 percent for the first 30 days after the due date. The penalty for delinquent real estate taxes not paid within 30 days following the due date will remain unchanged at 10 percent
