Governor McAuliffe Announces 10.5 Percent Decrease in Overall Homelessness in Virginia
Governor Terry McAuliffe today announced that overall homelessness in the Commonwealth declined 10.5 percent in 2016 versus 2015, with a 17 percent decrease in family homelessness in the same period. In addition, more than $14.7 million was recently awarded in Virginia Homeless Solutions Program (VHSP) grants to combat homelessness in Virginia. The new preliminary numbers originate from annual point in time data collected by local Continuum of Care groups across Virginia in January each year and compiled by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development.
Governor McAuliffe Announces More Than $8.2 Million in Community Development Block Grants
Governor Terry McAuliffe today announced more than $8.2 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for 12 projects in Virginia. Since 1982, the federally-funded CDBG program has been administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), and Virginia receives approximately $17 million annually for this grant program.
Governor McAuliffe announces $226,000 in Building Entrepreneurial Economies funding
Governor Terry McAuliffe today announced $226,000 in Building Entrepreneurial Economies (BEE) awards for 12 projects in the Commonwealth. The BEE program provides funding to nonprofits and local governments to assist with the development of local and regional entrepreneurial economies that foster job creation and expansion by micro- and small businesses.
Governor McAuliffe Announces More Than $2 Million In Industrial Revitalization Funds
Governor Terry McAuliffe today announced $2.3 million in Industrial Revitalization Fund (IRF) awards for the cities of Petersburg, Roanoke and Waynesboro, as well as the town of Ashland. The IRF program provides gap financing for construction projects aligned with local and regional economic development strategies, primarily in distressed communities.
