Virginia Association of REALTORS® Elects Bill White as 2016 President

William A. “Bill” White Jr., president and owner of Joyner Fine Properties, has been elected to serve as 2016 president of the Virginia Association of REALTORS® (VAR). He succeeds Deborah A Baisden as the top volunteer elected leader of VAR, which is the largest trade association in the state of Virginia with more than 31,000 members. White will assume his new VAR post in November 2015.

VRA Bond Refinancing to Save Arlington $2.2 Million over 14 Years

The Virginia Resources Authority’s (VRA) refinancing of two (VRA) Wastewater and Water System Revenue Bonds will save Arlington County $2.2 million in reduced interest rates on those loans over the next 14 years. The loans were one of the funding sources for the County’s massive, $568 million upgrade and expansion of its aging Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP), substantially completed in 2012, to meet the demands of a growing population and increased state and federal water pollution control requirements

Governor McAuliffe Announces More Than $8.2 Million in Community Development Block Grants

Governor Terry McAuliffe today announced more than $8.2 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for 12 projects in Virginia. Since 1982, the federally-funded CDBG program has been administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), and Virginia receives approximately $17 million annually for this grant program.
